Adsorptive Removal of Thiophene from Benzene over Modified γ-Al2O3
Ag/γ-Al2O3 sorbents with different silver content were prepared by equal volume impregnation method, and their adsorption behavior for the containing-sulfur compounds was investigated in the solutions of thiophene-cyclohexane,thiophene-benzene,tetrahydrothiophene-cyclohexane and tetrahydrothiophene-benzene,respectively.The results show that Ag/γ-Al2O3 can remove thiophene and tetrahydrothiophene effectively from all solutions, and the removal of tetrahydrothiophene is easier than that of thiophene. The content of silver has obvious impact on the adsorption of those sulfur compounds, and the Ag/γ-Al2O3 sorbent with 15wt% silver has the best adsorption performance.XRD results show that the active component loaded on γ-Al2O3 exists as simple substance silver. And the results of BET characterization show that when silver loaded is over 15wt%,the specific surface area and pore volume decrease obviously and the sulfur capacity is also reduced. In addition,it was found that there exist two kinds of connection between thiophene and Ag,the π-complexation and the S-Ag bond
