Study on Preparation of Carbon-based Sorbents for Desulfurization in Hot Coal Gas by Supercritical Water Impregnation

The sorbents were prepared by depositing Cu,Mn,Zn oxide particles onto activated carbon (AC) using supercritical water impregnation.Morphology and structure, amount of loading of metal of sorbents, pore volume and surface area were characterized by XRD,SEM,ICP-AES and BET.The sulfidation tests were performed using a fixed-bed reactor. The effects of the precursor concentration, the preparation temperature and the reaction time on sulfidation properties of sorbents were investigated. The results show that the content of metal oxide and particles size can be controlled by change the temperature, reaction time and precursor concentration during supercritical water impregnation (SCWI).The optimal SCWI condition for preparing sorbents is at precursor concentration of 0.46 mol/L,380 oC and 30 min.The micropore volume, surface area and dispersion of metal oxide particles of sorbent have obvious effect on its desulfurization activity. The sorbents prepared by SCWI have quite high desulfurization efficiency and sulfur capacity of
