MIMO-Control of a F lexible Rotor with Active Magnetic Bearing

The paper presents a comparison of different selected MIMO (Multi Input-Multi Output)-control algorithms applied to a test rotor supported by magnetic bearings in the lateral direction. Here, the contribution is focused on the lateral direction. The rotor is considered as flexible, correspondingly, a FE-model is created, and digital controllers are employed. Moreover, a challenge of controlling the rotors of turbocompressors is to take into account the effects of the fluid forces, which destabilize the first forward mode shape in high pressure applications. The simulation results are compared with measured data for validation purposes.
