Performance Measurement for Modular IPv6 Router Based on Click
Click is a new software platform for building flexible and configurable routers. A Click router is assembled from packet processing modules called elements. Click’s modularity is as efficient and flexible for measuring performance as for building routers. This paper presents the configurations of a Click traffic generator and a Click traffic receiver designed for performance measurement. And experiments are set up with the two configurations and some elements for measurement, measuring the performance of two different Click IPv6 routers, respectively. The throughput of the two Click IPv6 routers is measured and the results are compared with that of Linux routing structure. Latency of a Click forwarding path is measured in the experiments. Particularly, latency of each element on the Click forwarding path is also measured.
