A New Storage Architecture Based on Global Subdivision Theory for Spatial Data
In order to more efficiently store and manage the massive spatial data and support the location based service, alternatives to spatial data storage system are urgently needed as the amount of spatial data is greatly increasing. Global Subdivision Storage Cluster (GS2G or Geocluster), which is a new kind of storage system based on global subdivision theory for spatial data, is presented in this paper. The system architecture of Geocluster is integrated with the framework of Global Subdivision Grid (GSG), the computer cluster theory, and the space-temporal integration technology. The main characteristics of this storage technology are the storage management of space-based integration and each storage node of Geocluster has an accordingly geospatial meaning. The concept of Geocluster, general design, and key technologies are emphatically described in the paper. The study on storage cluster theory based on the global subdivision framework will make a solid theoretical foundation for the storage system of global spatial data.
