1. INTRODUCTION In 2007, metallic zinc consumption all over the World was around 11.5 Mt/y 1. The greatest amount of this zinc is used in steel galvanization, a treatment that protects the steel products from the corrosion. Due to this large zinc demand, zinc recovery from the steel products, once they arrive to the end of their useful lives, is compulsory to keep a feasible zinc production.
