PRODUCTION OF POLY HYDROXY ALKANOATE BIOPOLYESTERS FROM GLYCEROL
The purpose of present study was to investigate the production of polyhydroxyalkanoate biopolyester from glycerol with concentration range of 0 -70% (v.v-1) using a mixed culture consortium as a seed, under 30℃ shake flask experiment for 30 days. Results found that the microbial seed could grow at highest glycerol concentrations as 50%. At glycerol concentration of 10 and 30% specific PHA production were 3,518.9 mg HB/ g CDW/L and 3,340.5 mg HB/ g CDW/L,. Proton-Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (1H-NMR) and Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) results showed that the extracted PHA content is polyhydroxybutyrate (PHB) polyester.
