Properties of EH-lignosulfonate acetone-formaldehyde (LSAF) as dispersant of coal water slurry
Due to the limited resources and rising price of petroleum, coal water slurry(CWS) has been regarded as a promising substitute fuel. CWS has excellent rheology, thixotropy and stability. In order to control the viscosity of the CWS, dispersants should be added. To select an appropriate type and suitable amount of chemical dispersants was very important. Therefore, a relatively low cost and high performance resin, water-soluble EH-lignosulfonate acetone-formaldehyde (LSAF) resin, was synthesized as the chemical dispersant of the CWS. LSAF was synthesized by modifying EH-lignin with sulfonate, acetone and formaldehyde, meanwhile, the chemical structure of LSAF was characterized by FT-IR spectrum and the reaction mechanism was presented. The dispersive property of LSAF in the coal water slurry was evaluated through the determination of viscosity, stability and concentration. The FT-IR spectrum showed that LSAF contained hydroxyl, carbonyl and sulfonic acid groups. The characterization results also showed the suitable amount of additive: LSAF was 0.70%, CMC was 0.05%, DBS was 0.20%, PVA was 0.20% and FeSO4 was 0.1%.The results proved LSAF had potential to be developed as a new type of dispersant of the coal-water slurry.
