Mass balance of Carbon, Nitrogen and Water during aerobic biological pretreatment of MSW prior to landfill
In this experiment, mass balance including water, carbon and nitrogen was investigated. Mass loss was mainly due to the leachate generation. The cumulative mass of leachate was 14.0kg, 80% of the total removal solid. The distribution of leachate in total water mass was more than 80%. For carbon balance, equivalent COD in CO2 was the highest. COD in leachate was just 3%-7% of equivalent COD in CO2. TN in gas was 78% of the TN mass loss.Leachate and CO2 generation rate had good linear correlation with temperature. For nitrogen, pH was a better factor indicating N transferred efficiency.
