Building Reservoir Models using Improved Boolean Simulation
The connectedness of sand bodies is over estimated when using traditional Boolean method to establish reservoir sand bodies framework models. The reason causing this problem is that the center point of every sand body is generated entirely stochastically by using traditional Boolean method. Because of not considering the positioning of previously deposited sand bodies has an important control over where subsequent sand bodies are deposited, the simulated results show over optimistic values for sand connectedness and bigger values for mud thickness. A simple method presented here can be used to solve this problem, whose basic principle is to generate the center of new geological objects firstly at those locations where have not been filled with geological objects. The implement steps of this method in case of two dimensions are introduced and a case study in Xinjiang oil field is presented. In case study,we compared the simulation results obtained respectively through improved Boolean method and traditional one. The results indicate that using improved Boolean method can get a more realistic simulation result.
