Experiment study on adsorption characteristics of SO2,NOx by biomass chars

Different kinds of biomass chars of the wheat straws, rice straw, cotton straw collected at Nanjing, China, were pyrolysed in a fixed bed reactor at different temperatures and heating rates. The specific area and pore structure, micro-morphology of different biomass chars were measured by a nitrogen adsorptiondesorption analysis instrument and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), respectively. The effects of heating temperature, flue gas composition, particle size of chars, etc on the adsorption efficiency of SO2, NO, were studied in a quartz fixed bed. The results indicated that the preparation conditions (such as pyrolysis temperature, heating rate, biomass type, etc) have significant effects on specific surface area, total pore volume, and micromorphology. The adsorption efficiency of SO2, NO, decreased with increasing of adsorption temperature, and particle size of biomass chars in the experimental range. The optimal condition of char preparation (873K, fast pyrolysis) was proposed based on the adsorption efficiency of SO2, NOx- It builds a basis for industrial applications of biomass.
