Fast EZW Encoding Algorithm Using Linear Indexing Technique
Embedded Image Coding Using Zerotrees of Wavelet Coefficients (EZW) is a common and efficient image coding algorithm. But this kind of algorithms needs to scan a two-dimensional matrix of wavelet coefficients that makes the coefficient-nodes in dominant list and subordinate list have to contain more information,reducing the encoding and decoding speed to a certain degree. Thus,this paper propounds a fast EZW encoding algorithm using linear indexing technique. This kind of algorithms encodes on ordered linear list,and its coefficient-nodes contain less information,improving the encoding speed to a certain degree,thus realizing a similar linear indexing technique used by no list SPIHT. If the creation of linear order is put before the coding of many images,the coding of these images needs only to create the linear order once,saving a lot of coding time.
