The Correction and Expansion for Omnidirectional Image with a Fisheye Lens

Omnidirectional vision (omni-vision) with a fisheye lens is popularly used for various applications. However it brings strong unavoidable inherent distortion in resulting images while fisheye lenses with the super—wide angle provide hemispherical view field. The correction for the distorted image is critical procedures. Firstly,the center of the fisheye image and the distortion coefficient of the fisheye lens will be calibrated;then the parameters are employed for the correction of distortional image. The algorithm of distortion correction is based on the spherical equidistance projection. Using the method proposed in this paper,perspective image in any direction could be obtained. Specially,the method has a positive effect on grabbing the sensitive information in image. The experimental results demonstrate the feasibility of the method.
