Experimental Study on Gas Production from Methane Hydrate Bearing Sand by Depressurization
An experimental apparatus was used to simulate gas production from methane hydrate bearing sand by depressurization method. TDR technique was applied to measure hydrate saturation in real time during gas hydrate formation and dissociation, which can reflect the experimental process in detail. In this paper,we discussed and explained material transformation during hydrate formation and dissociation. The hydrate formation began with the sand and gas interface on the top of the sediments. During gas hydrate dissociation by depressurization, the temperatures and hydrate saturation presented variously in different locations in sediments, suggesting that hydrates dissociate earlier on the surface and outer layer of the sediments than those in inner. The hydrate dissociation regulation is accord with the law of decomposition kinetics. In addition,we also investigated the depressurizing range influence on hydrate dissociation process.
