RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN HEMICELLULOSE COMPOSITION AND LIGNIN STRUCTURE AND THE LINKAGES IN HINDERED LCC
The composition and the absolute amount of neutral sugars were determined for 48 hardwood species (17 different hardwood species and 17 Acacia and 14 Eucalyptus) and 17 softwood species by alditol-acetate method, and their relationships to the syringyl ratio (S/(S+V)) of lignin and/or lignin content, which was determined by nitrobenzene oxidation and Klason lignin, was investigated. In addition, the structure of “hindered LCC (Lignin-Carbohydrate Complex) which recently discovered in our laboratory was analyzed for selected wood species and their relationships to lignin content were examined.
