STUDY ON PREPARATION PROCESS OF MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE FROM WHEAT STRAW
Microcrystalline cellulose is made from cotton and wood pulp commonly. Rod-like microcrystalline cellulose from wheat straw was prepared through refinery, acidic hydrolysis and latter alkaline treatment in this investigation. Process parameters such as acidic hydrolysis time, temperature, acid concentration and solid-liquor ratio which influenced microcrystalline cellulose indexes such as yield, DP, α-cellulose content and ash content were discussed in this paper. In addition, morphology, granularity distribution and crystallinity were analyzed. The optimum process conditions were confirmed. It was also discovered that crystallinity of wheat straw microcrystalline cellulose could be increased by 66.99% through the latter alkaline treatment.
