PREPARATION AND PROPERTIES OF HYDROPHOBICALLY MODIFIED HYDROXYETHYL CELLULOSE – AN EXPERIMENTAL STUDY
The conditions to synthesize hydrophobic long-chain alkyl modified hydroxyethyl cellulose which is prepared with dodecane bromide and hydroxyethyl cellulose were studied in this paper. The optimum conditions were identified as follows: m(HEC): m(BD)=10:1, the concentration of NaOH as activator is 5%, the swelling time is 21h, the reaction time is 80℃, and the reaction time is 10h. Finally the structure of the product was analyzed. The thickening properties and salt resistance were evaluated.
