PREPARATION AND CHARACTERIZATION OF NI(Ⅱ)-IMPRINTED CELLULOSE GRAFT COPOLYMER
Homogeneous graft copolymerization of acrylic acid(AA) onto cellulose in an ionic liquid, 1-N-butyl-3-methylimidazolium chloride (BMIMCl) was adopted in the synthesis of metal ion imprinted copolymer using Ni(Ⅱ) as a template. The cellulose Ⅱ was first dissolved in the BMIMCl and then grafted with the Ni-AA complex monomer using ammonium persulfate(APS) as initiator and N,N-methylene- bisacrylamide(MBA) as cross-linker. The Ni(Ⅱ)- imprinted copolymer was obtained by removal of Ni(Ⅱ) ions from graft copolymer. The imprint copolymer was characterized by FTIR and SEM. The batch adsorption of Ni(Ⅱ) and Cu(Ⅱ) ions showed that the imprinted polymers demonstrated a quite significant template binding capacity different from the non-imprinted polymer (NIP), and an obvious binding specificity for Ni(Ⅱ). The imprinted beads also showed much better stability in rebinding of the imprinted ions after three adsorption-regeneration cycles.
