TRAMETES SP. LG-9 PRETREATMENT TO IMPROVE RMP PROPERTIES OF COTTON STALK

Improvement on cotton stalk RMP (Refiner Mechanical Pulp) properties by Trametes sp. lg-9 pretreatment was studied in the paper, and Trametes sp. lg-9 was inoculated onto cotton stalk and cultivated on different days. Then RMP properties were investigated by analysing material weight loss, RMP refining properties and RMP bleaching properties of cotton stalk on different incubation days. The results showed that Trametes sp. lg-9 had strong ability in secreting laccase, which can advance degradation of cotton stalk composition effectively. The yield and brightness of cotton stalk RMP decreased gradually with time increased by Trametes sp. lg-9 pretreatment. However, the RMP physical properties increased obviously as the pretreatment time increased. The fiber average length of RMP increased gradually in the early stage of pretreatment, and fines content decreased gradually, but fiber average length decreased slightly as the pretreatment time further increased. The refining properties of RMP can be improved as pretreatment time increased. The bleaching properties of RMP changed as the pretreatment time increased, and optical properties of RMP changed little within 6 days’ pretreatment. However, physical properties were enhanced; but brightness of 18 days pretreatment was lower than that of the control obviously. The findings of our study offered reference foundations to produce mechanical pulp by white-rot fungi pretreatment.
