MAGNESIUM-BASED ALKALIS FOR H2O2 BLEACHING OF MASSON PINE CTMP
Magnesium-based alkalis for hydrogen peroxide bleaching of CTMP from Masson pine was investigated in this paper. The results showed that the optimum conditions for magnesium-based peroxide bleaching of Masson pine CTMP are as follows: hydrogen peroxide charge 4%, Mg(OH)2 charge 1.2%, Na2SiO3 charge 1.5 ﹪, bleaching temperature 80℃ and bleaching time 120min. Under the optimum conditions, the brightness of bleached pulp could reach 63.5%(ISO), while the brightness of bleached pulp by using the NaOH as the alkali source could only reach 61.4%(ISO). Compared to sodium-based peroxide bleaching, the chemical oxygen demand (CODcr) of effluent from bleaching process could decrease by 38.12% in magnesium-based peroxide bleaching.
