EFFECT OF XYLANASE TREATMENT ON FIBER MORPHOLOGY AND PHYSICAL STRUCTURE OF POPLAR APMP
Modification of fast-growing poplar APMP treated by xylanase and the effect of xylanase treatment on wet-end charge were researched. The beating degree and the physical strength of APMP were both improved significantly in the optimal treatment conditions, which were 20 IU·g-1, pH 7.0, 90min, and 50 . L ℃ ww of the treated fibers increased 0.024 mm, carboxyl content decreased 9.34m·mol·kg-1, Zeta potential (negative value) decreased 1.7mv, and dissolved charge decreased 4.03μeq·g-1. Observation of the treated APMP observed by SEM and AFM showed that the treated fibers were much softer, many hollows on the fiber surface appeared, and fibrillation extent of treated pulp were better, and the treated pulp was easy to refine or beat. The crystallinity of the treated fiber increased.
