APPLICATION OF Mg(OH)2 AS ALKALI SOURCE IN OXYGEN DELIGNIFICATION OF OQP BLEACHING OF WHEAT STRAW NaOH-AQ PULP
A partial substitution of NaOH by Mg(OH)2 as alkali source of oxygen delignification of OQP bleaching of wheat straw NaOH-AQ pulp was carried out in this paper. The effects of substitution of Mg(OH)2 for NaOH on pulp properties and delignification characteristics including delignification ratio, delignification selectivity and chemical oxygen demand (COD) were discussed as well as the subsequent bleachability of delignified pulps. The results showed that with the increase of Mg(OH)2 substitution ratio, the delignified pulp viscosity, pulp yield and delignification selectivity increased, while the delignification ratio, brightness and COD decreased. Followed by QP bleaching, the resulting pulps gave an decreased brightness with the increase of substitution ratio in oxygen delignification, while the viscosity of resulting pulp was improved and the residual H2O2 of P stage increased. The bleached pulp tensile and tear index gave a decreasing trend with the increased Mg(OH)2 substitution ratio.
