THE RESEARCH ON STRENGTHEN EFFECT OF CORN STALK BY ALCOHOL COOKING ON OCC

Using corn stalk by alcohol cooking as strength agent was put forward for the first time. The best cooking conditions were acquired through orthogonal experiment based on the component analysis of corn stalk pulp. Results showed that high temperature was 185℃, heat preservation time was 90min, liquid ratio was 1:25, and ethanol concentration was 60%. Then paper sheets were made with OCC and about 20%~ 25% corn stalk. Strength index of these paper sheets were measured as follows. Folding endurance was increased by 233.33% from the original 3 times to 10 times. Tensile strength index was increased by 77.74% from the original 17.7N.m/g to 31.46N.m/g. Ring crush index was increased by 47.07% from the original 4.27N.m/g to 6.28N.m/g. Burst index was increased by 26.72% from the original 1.16kPa.m2/g to 1.47 kPa.m2/g. Density was increased by 13.33% from the original 0.45g/cm3 to 0.51g/cm3. Tear index was increased by 3.13% from the original 4.48 mN.m2/g to 4.62mN.m2/g.
