EFFECT OF ENZYMES PRETREATMENT ON COMPONENTS OF PULP OF FAST-GROWING POPLAR

The treatment of fast-growing poplar pulp of the first refining stage with crude enzyme isolated from white-rot fungi and commercial xylanase is reported in this article. The content of lignin, fiber quality and morphology of fiber in the treatment period are studied and compared. The results showed that the content of lignin of the pulp treated by the crude enzyme decreased by 6.04% and that of the pulp treated by the commercial enzyme decreased by 5.62% in the same treatment time. According to pulp fiber quality analysis,Weight Weighted Average Fiber Length was remarkably increased respectively by 12.03% and 8.74% treated by the crude enzyme and the commercial enzyme,. Fibers treated by the crude enzyme were smoother, more flexible and not tangled. But the width of fiber treated by xylanase was reduced. The crude enzyme isolated from the white-rot fungi was considered as a potential powerful enzyme in mechanical pulping.
