STUDY ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF PHYSICAL PROPERTIES OF OCC BY USING WASTE LIQUOR OF PRC-APMP

In recent years, there are more concerns with how to use the waste liquor of high yield pulping efficiently. In this study, the modified waste liquor was obtained by catalyzing the waste liquor of PRC-APMP with etherifying agent, and the modified liquor was further used as an intensifier for the OCC pulp. The results showed that the strength properties of OCC pulp can be improved significantly by using cationic modified waste liquor with the mass ratio of cationic etherifying agent to hemicellulose of 1.2:1. When the dosage of modified liquor was 2% (to the oven-dried pulp), the tensile index, ring crush, folding endurance and stiffness of paper increased by 16.6%, 26.7%, 22.4% and 37.4%, respectively, compared to that of the control. Also, different retention systems were used for the retention of hemicellulose in OCC pulp. The results showed that the dual retention system was better than the single system, and the HCS-CPAM dual system had the best retention effect on hemicellulose.
