GC-MS ANALYSIS OF STICKY CONTAMINANTS IN DEINKED PULP FURNISH

Pulps were sampled from three major points of a deinking pulp production line, and classified as fibers, fines fractions and aqueous phases, and then extracted with THF and MTBE, respectively. Sticky contaminants were investigated by a GC-MS analysis of the extractives, and the results showed that the contaminants can be grouped as adhesives, wood extractives, lignin- derivatives and some other organic acids. Contents of components in each group and their removal were discussed accordingly with the related operation units.
