ADVANCED TREATMENT OF PULPING & BLEACHING EFFLUENT WITH FE-CA BIOMIMETIC SYSTEM
In recent years, Fe-based biomimetic system which can simulate the function of lignin peroxidase is a hot topic in effluent treatment concerned with the paper industry. The ability of decolourization and degradation of residual lignin in the effluent by the Fe-based biomimetic system was investigated. The pulping and bleaching effluent was treated with Fe-carboxyl acid (Fe-CA) biomimetic system and followed by polymeric ferric sulfate (PFS) flocculation. It was found that removal of CODcr and chroma achieved 73% and 80% respectively. Meanwhile, the optimal condition of wastewater treatment was as follows: 10mg/L of Fe-CA; 200mg/L of PFS; 150mg/L of H2O2; pH6.0; 30 ; reaction time 1h and ℃ sedimentation time 3h. Because of the merit of stable property, lower cost and high efficiency, the Fe-CA complexes will be widely used in advanced treatment of wastewater from paper mills.
