STUDY ON THE TOXICITY AND KEY TOXICANT OF DEINKING EFFLUENTS

With the rapid development of secondary fiber industry, more and more attention has been paid to the pollution discharge from its effluents and sludge. The toxicity studies on deinking effluents of secondary fiber were carried out by using optimized photo bacteria method. The results showed that the value of EC50 for acute toxicity in deinking stock effluents, which were produced from the technological flows of 120t/d (ton per day) and 250t/d (ton per day), were 69.96% and 67.78% respectively, and both reached the level of Toxicity Class. As far as a total organic load was concerned, the values were 25.71 and 20.35 kg·CODcr/t·pulp, and the total TEF (Toxicity Effluent Factor) was 17.88 and 15.54TU·m3/t·pulp approximately, as well as equivalently 1.79g and 1.55g HgCl2/t·pulp. Additionally, it can be seen from the QSAR (quantitative structure-activity relationship) and GC-MS analytical method that key toxicants produced by the flow of 120t/d (ton per day) were dibutyl phthalate (DBP), toluene and ortho-xylene. DBP, toluene, ortho-xylene and phenol were the key toxicants of the 250t/d (ton per day) effluents. Therefore, more attention should be paid to the toxicity and toxicity emission load of secondary fiber deinking effluents.
