UTILIZING EXHAUST HEAT EFFECTIVELY FOR IMPROVING THERMAL ENERGY EFFICIENCY IN A PAPER MACHINE

With the purpose of removing water from paper web by evaporation, the drying process of paper machine is the most energy intensive process, which consumes about 70% of the total energy required in papermaking. Meanwhile, most of the waste heat is exhausted from the drying process with a great energy saving potential. This paper attempts to optimize the drying process with a coating paper machine as the case. The method of thermodynamic analysis is presented. Based on the analysis results, it can be seen that the heat loss of the drying process is mainly attributed to the after-drying exhaust. It was found that the quality of the exhaust heat was high, and it could be used for heating the fresh supply air of the case pre-dryer section, which achieved the goal of energy saving for the coating paper machine.
