PREPARATION OF 2-BUTANOL BY CATALYTIC HYDROGENATION OF BIOBASED BUTANONE CATALYZED BY Pd/C CATALYST
Preparation of 2-butanol was studied by catalytic hydrogenation of biobased butanone catalyzed by Pd/C. Effects of reaction time, temperature, hydrogen pressure and catalyst dosage on the yields of 2-butanol were investigated. The results indicated that catalytic hydrogenation reaction of butanone could be carried out catalyzed by Pd/C and the main outcome was 2-butanol. The yield of 2-butanol increased with the increase of temperature under moderate temperature conditions. However, the yield of 2-butanol decreased with the increase of temperature out of certain temperature. Under the reaction conditions of P=10 bar, t=8 h and T =60, 90, 120, 150℃, the yields of 2-butanol reached 4.9%, 53.1%, 52.8% and 45.5% respectively. The yield of 2-butanol decreased with the increase of hydrogen pressure. Reaction speed was accelerated by the increase of catalyst dosage and reaction time shortened. However, the effect of catalyst dosage on the yield of 2-butanol was small.
