STUDY ON ENZYMOLYSIS PREPARATION OF NANOCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE (NCC) FROM CHEMICALLY PRETREATED COTTON FIBERS
The nature cotton fibers pretreated chemically with DMSO or NaOH have been hydrolyzed by cellulase (Trichoderma Vride G) to prepare the nanocrystalline cellulose. The as-prepared samples were characterized with Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectrometry, x-ray diffraction (XRD), transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and laser light scattering (LS) particle size analysis. The influences of the chemical pretreatments and additives on the morphology and yield of nanocrystalline cellulose have been investigated. The experimental results indicated that the pretreated cotton fibers hydrolyzed by cellulase to prepare 10-40 nm×70-280 nm strips and 10 nm particles respectively, due to different expanding actions. The nanocrystalline cellulose obtained from the cotton fibers treated with NaOH was cellulose Ⅱ crystal phase.
