SELECTION OF RETENTION AND DRAINAGE SYSTEM FOR PAPERMAKING USING RECYCLED FIBER WITH HIGH-LOAD ADDING FILLERS
The effect of single, dual and ternary retention and drainage system composed with different molecular weight and electric charge density chemicals on the retention and drainage performance of papermaking wet-end were studied. The recycle fiber was used to make paper with 20% PCC loading. Based on the analysis of pulp retention, drainage and strength properties of resulted paper sheet, the results showed that among the singular system, M3 (molecular weight 107, low cationic charge density) had better ability to improve the pulp drainage performance and fines retentions rate in which case the ash content of paper sheet improved 6.4%, fillers retention improved 34.8%, drainage time reduced 39.1%. Among the dual system, M3 plus CP-3(anionic Microparticle) has the best performance of ash content of paper sheet improving 7.5%, fillers retention improving 43.2% and drainage time reducing 41.4%. Among ternary system, the M3 plus CP-3 plus high whiteness bentonite has better performance, in which case the ash content of paper sheet increased 7.4%, fillers retention increased 42.6%, and drainage time reduced 35.6%. Through the comparison of effect between different systems, the dual system(M3 plus CP-3) has optimal application effect on increasing fillers and fines retention, improving drainage performance and maintaining paper sheet strength.
