EFFECT OF FINES IN BCTMP ON PAPER PROPERTIES
The effect of refining on fines in BCTMP ( Bleached Chemithermomechanical Pulp ) was studied. When the beating degree of pulp increased from 20°SR to 50°SR, the fines content in aspen BCTMP increased from 18.3% to 35.4%. The content of fibres with length above 0.6mm decreased with the increasing of beating degree, and that of fibres under 0.075mm kept on increasing. It contains nearly the same amount of long fibres and fines in the pulp of 30°SR. Screened process was conducted on the BCTMP fines, and the effect of fines adding on paper properties was investigated. When the fines proportion in the pulp increased, the bulk of paper decreased slightly and the stiffness increased a little, while the tensile and the burst strength considerably increased. Interpenetrate the BCTMP of high-low beating degree and make it into handsheet. We found the networking pulp had positive effect on paper properties compared to the pulp with equal beating degree.
