STUDY ON THE IMPROVEMENT OF FIRST PASS RETENTION OF ANTIBACTERIAL SILVER ZEOLITES
Compared with organic antibacterial agents, inorganic agents have higher heat resistance and greater safety. The metal ions of the antibacterial agents remain in the paper sheets, which will be released gradually to the matrix surfaces, providing a continual and long-lasting antibacterial performance. It is generally believed that the silver content in zeolites is an important factor regarding the antibacterial performance. The higher the content of silver is, the better antibacterial performance the zeolites can provide. Effects of water-soluble retention aid, hydrocol retention aid system, compozil retention aid system, and polyethyleneimine (PEI)/CPAM mixture retention aid system on the retention of silver zeolites were studied. The results show that the four retention aid systems can improve the First Pass Retention (FPR) and pulp drainage performance obviously, and the hydrocol retention system has the best FPR. The four systems, which have their own characteristics for retention of silver zeolites, satisfy the application of silver zeolites based on specific conditions.
