ADSORPTION OF CATIONIC STARCH ON DIFFERENT FILLERS
The effects of filler properties on the adsorption of cationic starch on fillers were studied in this paper. Fillers including calcium carbonate, talc, clay and titanium dioxide, with different sizes were chosen for this study. It was found that adsorption curve of cationic starch on fillers was “s type, whereas the adsorption on fiber was “L type. Absorption curves of cationic starch on different fillers were similar. More cationic starch absorbed on fillers with smaller average particle size and larger surface charge. No significant difference was found in the effect of filler’s particle shape on cationic starch absorption. More cationic starch adsorbed on titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate and clay than on talc.
