PROBLEMS OF DISSOLVED AND COLLOIDAL SUBSTANCE IN WHITE WATER OF FINE PAPER MACHINE
Dissolved and colloidal substance (DCS) in white water from short-circulation of huge fine paper machine was investigated, which included its relevance to drainage, retention ability and paper strength properties. And the results indicated that DCS mainly consisted of inorganics (calcium carbonate) and organics primarily from pulps and chemicals. Additionally, the paper machine would start to drain as the amount of DCS exceeded 900mg/L, and dissolved and colloidal substance in white water could also illustrate the clean level of wet-end of paper machine. Simultaneously the retention efficiency as well as the paper strength properties would be affected by it.
