THE EXPLOITATION OF A NEW TYPE OF PAPER BULK AGENT

As the current economic development led to the rise in the prices of paper raw materials, many businesses had to find inexpensive raw materials to replace wood pulp partly. On the other hand, wood fiber had a wide variety of sources, lots of wood factories have made large amount of scraps as well as chip dusts each year, and brought about a large number of waste resources. Therefore, the wood fiber can be processed to a certain degree and reused to save resources and reduce environmental pollution. As we all know, wood fiber is composed by cellulose, hemicelluloses and lignin, and has a large number of hydrophilic-lipophilic functional groups, showing a strong hydrophilic-lipophilic nature. And both in China and abroad wood fiber has been widely used in many areas, such as wood-plastic composite materials, fiberglass, bio-degradable plastics. But there is no report on its application in paper production yet. In this paper, wood fiber was used after special treatment to replace part of CMP to make paper, with cationic starch as agent, and a paper areal weight of 60g/m2. In this experiment, by changing the proportion of wood fiber added, various physical indicators of papers were detected to gain the optimum proportion of wood fiber, ultimately achieving the purpose of reducing the cost of production. The results showed that when the proportion was 20%, the paper bulk increased about 30%, but the tensile index only decreased about 10%, white increased gradually, folding endurance obviously decreased, tear increased first and then decreased. But the paper can still meet the basic requirements of production. Considering all the factors, the optimal proportion of wood fiber is 20%.
