APPLICATION OF UNDERWATER PIPELINE REPAIR TECHNOLOGY IN SOUTH CHINA SEA
Environment and human behavior are the two main factors that caused pipeline damage. The environment factor includes corrosion, organism damage, scour effect and free span by wave and tide, hydrodynamic effect of wave, buoyancy produced by the liquefaction of sediment, hurricane etc. The human behavior factor includes construction quality, stealing crude oil, impact and scratch by anchors or other heavy objects, operation mistakes and sea development etc. Different damage mechanisms lead to different damage forms: pipeline distortion, leak (or wall loss) and break up. According to different damage forms and operation depth, corresponding repair methods could be introduced. This paper, taken the pipeline repair project in Huizhou oilfield 2008 for example, introduces this deep water pipeline repair work for the first time in our country.
