A STUDY ON THE DEVELOPMENT OF CHEMICAL ACCIDENT DATABASE AND STATISTICAL ANALYSIS ON THE PROCESS INDUSTRIES
The chemical industries have learned from past experiences. The most important task is dissemination of information on the causes and consequences of past accidents and if possible, information related to near misses that can be easily retrieved and used as lessons. In this paper,we analyze domestic and international chemical accidents databases and develope a chemical accident reporting system using the classification codes. The codes are revised by adopting 2115 cases of chemical accident data in South Korea over the last 20 years. The revised classification codes consist of 12 upper,64 middle and 276 lower classes. The database is made of data input, list-up, and searching, statistic and analysis modules. One can find several informative relations among accident data attributes that are not obvious,as well as some simple statistical results through module operations. The developed chemical accident tracking system is available through the website and the data is treated using an on-line analytical system. The records are statistically analyzed to figure out frequent accident types.occasion and materials in the Korean chemical industry.
