FRACTURE FAILURE ANALYSIS OF FRICTION WELDING DRILL PIPE

摘要：

The drill pipe was fractured in handling process of drilling sticking incident in an oilfield .The fractured drill pipe was investigated by means of chemical composition.optical microscopejnaterial property testing machine and SEM with EDS.The results showed that drill pipe was fractured in welding seam.Due to improper processes of friction weld and heat treatment after weld.led to a large number of inclusions residues and ferrite + pearlite microstructure existed in the welding seam,finally drill pipe was brittle fractured.
