LESSONS FROM INCIDENT INVESTIGATION ALWAYS GOOD AND NOT TO BE OVERLOOKED
Investigating what has gone wrong to result in accident which often times means injuries or even fatalities can not be a pleasant experience.POSCO .having strong belief in excellence in safety and transparency .would not be quite different from others in looking at what they did not do right.Anyone and everyone who is involved in undesirable incident always try to justify it or come up with good excuses to finger-point others (and not me).POSCO management has established a policy saying that lessons from wrong-doing should not be overlooked, but, they rather should be maximized even though disclosing the wounds may be excruciating. The primary functions among many that safety team within Gwangyang steelworksare to do risk control by performing few important roles such as safety training, risk assessment and near-miss/ incident investigation. From many years experience,near-miss/incident investigations, by its nature.are very sensitive to every parties involved, and sufficiently balanced (if not perfectly) view only guarantees more attention and, consequently .brings positive attitude toward learning from it.
