2-D RAYLEIGH WAVE SUPERPOSITION BASED ON BEM SIMULATION

A frequency domain boundary element method modeling is introduced in this paper to simulate two-dimensional Rayleigh wave propagation and scattering problems in elastic half-space. Superposition technology is a very useful and convenience method to analyze the glided wave propagation and scattering problems, but there are many assumptions in the analytical part of this theory which are pretty difficult to be verified in the real experiment. The simulation method in this paper could give us a chance to find the agreement between the analytical result and the numerical one. The comparison will give us guide lines to analyze such problems efficiently. The method is formulated for a two-dimensional homogeneous, isotropic, linearly elastic half-space and its implementation in a frequency domain boundary scheme is discussed in some detail. The formulation is validated for a free Rayleigh pulse travelling on a half-space even with cavities on its surface.
