PETROLEUM AND GAS STORAGE TANK FIRES INJAPAN
Petroleum and gas tank fires in Japan, about 140, reported in the past 100 years were reviewed, and compared with those occurred outside Japan, about 800. Number of tank fires is increasing in Japan, and most of them were caused from human errors, even though sometimes earthquake damaged tanks. Hot work inside tank is most dangerous, sometimes makes human damages though the fire continued shorter time. Analysis of the fires implies that it is important to educate maintenance workers.
