AN IMPORTANT ASPECT OF LNG RECEIVING AND RE-GASIFICATION TERMINAL SAFETY--BOILED OFF GAS (BOG) HANDLING AND RELEVANT MODELLING

In the liquefied natural gas (LNG) receiving and re-gasification terminal,safety and security issues have always been an important consideration. Among all the systems, the boil-off gas (BOG) handling system is functioned as an over-all system, and connects with most of the producing units, and directly impacts on the safety, economics, and environmental issues of terminal operations. Different from the major dealing for fuel gas and venting for flaring in conditions of loading in the large-scale liquefying plant, the BOG handling has more choices considering the sending-out pressure and minimal flowing rate. This paper introduced the components of BOG handling system, discussed about the technique for dealing with under different conditions, and inducted the steady calculating method for estimating the amount of BOG and the semi-dynamic modeling for predicting the BOG rate (BOR). By meanings of collecting and analyzing the data from a LNG imported terminal, the BOR was calculated. Finally, some important issues and suggestions about BOG handling for safety were proposed in the design phase and the operation of LNG re-gasification terminal.
