WEAK MAGNETIC SIGNAL CHANGES OF L80 CASING IN TENSION

Weak magnetic signal changes of casing L80 under tensile stress in geomagnetic field environment are studied to assess stress status of the casing. The normal components of weak magnetic signals on the casing surface were recorded throughout the loading and unloading processes on a whole pipe testing machine. Effects of the initial magnetization on the trend and variable ratio of magnetic signals are analyzed. The relation between normal magnetic signals and applied tensile stress are studied. During the elastic process, approximate linearity between normal magnetic signals and tensile stress is presented; the variation of the magnetic signals grows intense after entering the plastic process, which is useful to identify whether the specimen under stress is in elastic deformation process or plastic deformation process.
