GLOBAL PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS OF SPAR IN THE EXTREME CONDITION OF SOUTH CHINA SEA
In order to obtain the motion and air gap of the spar in the extreme conditions of South China Sea and its natural periods, the spar global performance analysis was performed. The 3-D hydrodynamic model for the analysis of Spar is built according to the spar configuration and its mooring system .The frequency domain method was used to predict the hydrodynamic interactions between the waves and the Spar. In frequency domain analysis the commercial program WAMIT is used. The hydrodynamic results a-chieved by using the frequency domain method include hydrodynamic coefficients, wave forces, response RAOs and natural periods. The motion and air gap analysis of the spar is performed based on the time domain analysis method using commercial program HARP. In the analysis of motion, the six degrees of freedom motion of the vessel is calculated based on the variation of environmental loads. In the analysis of air gap totally eight points are specified. The minimum air gap was obtained by calculating relative elevation from eight points under the main deck to the instantaneous free surface by post processing the vessel motion and wave elevation histories from HARP simulations.
