DEVELOPMENT AND APPLICATION OF 160KPSI HIGH-STRENGTH COLLAPSE RESISTANCE CASING

Owing to the creep of salt rock, well-hole instability may cause casing collapse failure, leading tremendous economical loss to the oil field exploration and exploitation. Salt bed stratum in Dongou Depression was so well developed that the casing with collapse strength as high as 168M Pa were needed to cope with such severe geological conditions. A 160 kpsi grade high strength new material with enough toughness was developed at laboratory, and further the Non-API specification of φ141.3× 11.3 casing with collapse strength not less than 170MPa were successfully prepared and applied in Dongpu Depression region. In comparison with the formerly used φ152.4 × 16.9 thick wall casing, application of the new developed casing not only provides enough safety margin for oil exploration and exploitation, but also brings vast economic benefit to the oilfield company.
