RESEARCH AND APPLICATION OF INVERSE CONSTRUCTION TECHNIQUE FOR LARGE FLOATING ROOF TANK
The conventional method for the installation of steel tanks is to construct the steel tank from the bottom up which requires construction crew to work up in the air. The inverse construction technique for the large floating roof tank has been successfully applied in China in recent years, which break the traditional concept that the large floating roof tank could only use upright erection technique in construction.This paper briefly described the key steps of inverse construction technique for large floating roof storage tank with hydraulic lifting. At the same time, combined with practical work some remarkable mechanical problems that would bring some risks to engineering construction were pointed out. And some potential problems during the inverse construction for 150000 m3 tank were analyzed through finite element software Abaqus, and some valuable conclusions were drawn.
