Studies on The Static Strength of Helicopter Composite Blade

Regarding to a certain helicopter composite rotor blade, finite element method was used to create the integral model through ANSYS without simplifying structure. Based on this, the program was developed to compute the specific strength of the structures of the blade that formed the composite construction using APDL. Because of the differences of the constructional materials, the strength criterions were different corresponding to different structures. Where, the Hashin ,Hoffman, Von Mises criterions were used in glass fiber beam; composite laminate structures like skin, spar, torsion, cape, etc; foam core respectively. The influence of aerodynamics and the self-gravity of the blade on the static strength were ignored in computational procedure, the blades stress nephogram and its specific strength of the construction were carried out at the maximum rotational speed. The results show that the blade of the static strength can meet the requirement of the design.
