The study of the thermal conductivity model for filled polymer composites

The theoretical and empirical models of predicting the thermal conductivity of polymer matrix composites were summarized totally from 1890-2006. The effects of particle shape, filler amount, the dispersion state of fillers and the interfacial thermal barrier on the thermal conductivity of polymer composites, and the accordance of the experimental data with the theoretical models in the literature were discussed. The silica with high thermal conductivity was chosen to mix into Ethylene vinyl accetate (EVA) copolymer and to prepare the SiO2/EVA co-film. The experimental data of the thermal conductivity of the co-film was compared with some classical theoretical and empirical models. The results show that Y.Agari equation, mixed equation and equation of percolation can predict well the effective thermal conductivity
